*Staff are to ensure that all unsupervised students are cleared from their area of coverage before leaving the building.
Staff are expected to notify Administration or the office staff whenever they are going to be late or absent. Medical appointments etc… are to be made after working hours or during breaks in the school year whenever possible. Notes are to be provided to verify appointments.
2. Staff Supplies
Each staff member will be given a daily planner and a box of school supplies. Staff is asked to use their supplies sparingly and keep them in a safe place. Supplies are purchased in bulk once a year. This means that if supplies run out they may not be re-stocked for some time. Please note out-of-stocks items on the “wishlist” sheet that is posted on the staff room wall.
Teachers should not be handing out school supplies to students as students are required to bring their own supplies to school. If teachers feel that they want to supply students, they will be expected to purchase supplies on their own.
The Teacher Prep Rooms (Copier Rooms) have construction paper, paper rolls, laminator, etc… for teacher use.
3. School Keys
Each staff member is given a main door key and a general classroom master for which they must sign a key log form. If a staff member loses their keys, they will have to pay for the replacement of the main door key for every staff member. It is approximately $ 20.00/key. For this reason it is very important that staff keep track of their keys and refrain from lending them to students.
4. Mail
Staff mailboxes are located in the staff room. Mailboxes are the most common way of distributing important information to every staff member. Daily messages are also put in mailboxes. For these reasons staff members should make a habit of regularly checking and cleaning their mailboxes.
Mailboxes for the Ducharme Building , NLSD – Beauval, NLSD – La Ronge, Bruce Ruelling and the Local School Board are situated in the main office. Staff are asked to utilize these boxes whenever possible.
School mail is usually delivered to the post office by 3:00 pm each day. Staff who wish to have personal letters dropped off may put them in the “Outgoing Mail” box. Please make sure all personal mail has proper postage.
School mail is usually picked up from the post office once a day.
Staff is asked to request a post office box or use “General Delivery” for their personal addresses.
5. Correspondence
All school related correspondence that a staff member wishes to distribute must be approved by an Administrator and printed on approved letterhead.
6. Bathroom Passes / Notes
If a student has to leave a classroom for any reason, the supervising staff member must send him/her with either the official classroom bathroom pass or a written note that indicates the time, date and has been signed. Only one student at a time should be excused from a classroom. Students’ time out of the class should be limited.
7. Photocopier / Paper Policy
This building has three copiers. One in the office which is for Admin use only, one in the High School Teacher Prep Room and one in the Middle Years Teacher Prep Room. The Prep Room copiers are for staff use. The Main Office copier requires an access code to limit use of this machine. If necessary staff may ask office personnel to use the copier.
Any problems with the copiers should be reported to Christie Janvier, Receptionist as soon as possible. A note indicating which copier and the nature of the problem is required.
Staff are asked to be economical in their copying as paper supplies are limited. Make sure to check that the correct instructions are selected before copying. Double side whenever possible and make sure the original document is in good condition.
Use overhead transparencies whenever possible.
The photocopier manual is located on the back of the staff copiers. Staff are asked to make themselves familiar with the operation of the copiers. Adding paper, removing jams and replenishing toner are all day-to-day tasks that staff should be familiar with.
8. Laminator
We have a roll laminator in the High School Teacher Prep Room. There is an instruction video that goes with it. See Florence Janvier or Vincent Janvier if there is a problem with its operation.
As supplies like laminating film are generally only ordered once per year; staff are asked to be conservative in their use of the laminator.
9. Phones and fax machine
There are many phones located throughout the building. Please familiarize yourself with their locations. Toll free calls and calling card calls can be made from any phone in the building. Only the Admin. office phones are programmed to allow long distance calls. All long distance calls (and their purpose) must be recorded on the phone log located by each phone. Personal calls are discouraged as calling cards can be used from any phone. A flat fee of $ 2.00 per call will be charged for personal calls that are charged to the school.
Staff are asked to refrain from using the main phone in the office as it is the only one that takes incoming calls. Before using an office telephone, please get permission from the person whose phone you are borrowing.
While the school has four lines the main line number is 822-2223.
Our fax number is 822-2344.
The High School Administrative Office fax number is 822-2333.
Directions on how to use the fax are located on the machine. All faxes are to be recorded on the fax log which is on the wall above the machine. Personal faxes are billed at a flat rate of $ .50 per page.
10. Staff Meetings
These meetings generally take place on the first Tuesday of each month and students are dismissed at 2:25 pm on these days. These are “Special Event Days”.
The Dene Building staff also meets every Monday morning at 8:20 am for communication purposes.
11. Funeral Policy
Students who wish to attend a funeral must have a note from their parents/guardians allowing them to go. A phone call may also be acceptable. Please make sure that the students are aware of this policy.
Teachers who wish to attend a funeral should see the local agreement. Support staff that wishes to attend must meet with administration at least two days prior to the funeral.
